Alex Hoffman's Picks:
While it is true that the 9th volume of Rosario + Vampire comes out today, this week's picks are actually Kimi Ni Todoke: From Me To You Vol 2 for its sweet premise and wonderful characters, and A Distant Neighborhood Vol 1 from Ponent Mon. I can't wait to get my hands on these books.

John Thomas's Pick:
I have enjoyed the Vampire Hunter D novels I have read, so the idea of jumping into a different Hideyuki Kikuchi universe is enticing. I am only a few pages into Wicked City, but already it has sucked me in like a bad cold. The first-person perspective of this novel gives it an enticing, trance-like feel.

Matthew Rozier's Picks:
A little something for everyone this week! First, from Fanfare/Potent Mon, are two highly polished, mature titles in A Distant Neighborhood v1 and Summit of the Gods v1. Both are titles that everyone absolutely must check out. Next, from Viz Media, are two great shojo titles in Kimi ni Todoke v2 and Skip Beat v19. Kimi ni Todoke's first volume was a pleasant surprise and anyone reading Skip Beat should know how much of a fun read it has been to this point. Viz is also releasing Slam Dunk v6 this week. More great basketball action is certainly not a bad thing.

Justin Colussy-Estes' Picks:
I'll pick up almost anything from Fanfare/Ponent Mon, and Taniguchi is a phenomenal artist (both titles from them this week are his), but it's also a good week to be a kid-- both Viz's and Udon's kids lines are really kicking into high gear with some great titles, several of which come out this week. For girls, Fairy Idol Kanon or Happy Happy Clover is the go to. For boys, it's Leave it to PET and BakeGyamon.

Alain Mendez's Picks:

I have not read Hideyuki Kikuchi's Wicked City yet but I am always interested in Japanese novels so I will always give one a whirl. I always recommend One Piece. It might not have the best art of all the Shonen Jump properties but Eiichiro Oda is one of the best writers in shonen. He clearly plots out his stories well in advance which give the stories an overall meatier appeal. Volume 22 is the penultimate book in the Baroque Works Arc which is one of the most exciting and engaging arcs in the series.

Amy Grocki's Picks:
Out of all the Viz Media titles this week I'm most glad to see Kimi ni Todoke v2 and also I'm excited for the latest Yen Plus Magazine since I can't wait to read the next chapter of Black Butler. I don't think I would mind having such a handsome demonic butler around my house!

Dan Polley's Pick:
I don't know how I will be able to adjust with One Piece and Naruto coming out on the same week. And with Wicked City and Jiro Taniguichi offerings this week, it's an overload to say the least. Whew. But I'm going to go elsewhere for my pick this week. For great action and awesome setting, you will need to go manwha this week with Dark Horse's Shaman Warrior. The artistic style alone is worth picking up, and once you see how beautiful it is, you'll be sucked in by the plot for revenge. And with the finale of the series up next, now is the time to jump on.

Lori Henderson's Pick:
Viz is just slapping me silly with all the titles they have coming out this week, for me AND the kids!  I really want to read the second volume of Kimi ni Todoke, and my kids love both of the Pokemon titles, I have to give my pick to Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya v27.  This is the penultimate volume!  It's been a long road for this old school title, but I gotta give Viz props for sticking with it and seeing it through to the end, even if there's only a handful or so of us reading it.

"Short list this week, though its better than last week's non-existent list. I hope everyone enjoyed our re-readable list. This week mostly features the smaller publishers. You can't really call Dark Horse small, but they keep their manga selection to a select few. Kodansha shouldn't be called small, but their releases have been disappointing and slow to say the least. With a company that has as large of a selection of titles as they do, you would expect to see something that..." [Read More]

"Alex Hoffman: Normally, the Manga Village crew goes over the list of newly released comics and give you our manga picks for the week. "With San Diego Comic Con starting this week, publishers seem more interested in preparing for the con than releasing books, but the new big two of manga publishing still has titles coming out this week. Yen Press' selection is just as varied with manga, manhwa and light novels, including Spice and Wolf vol 2.The List:VIZ MEDIADragon Ball Z Volume 8 GN (VIZB..." [Read More]

"Eep! It's a short list again! But what's this? Another Kodansha volume in less than a year? The End really is near! Does this mean they might finish Akira before the 2012? No way! Netcomics makes a rare appearance with some print copies of their titles, if you like to read old school. And Vertical finally releases the much anticipated Peepo Choo, from one of the few Americans to get a series published in Japan. What will our reviewers choose? Scroll down to find out!..." "Viz stands on top this week with their massive wave of shonen and shojo titles. But you can't deny the goodness of so many of them! One Piece is still awesome, even at volume 54, and Shaman King, an alumni from Shonen Jump, is getting soooo close to ending. But don't pass up Yen Press, Viz's biggest rival now, especially on the Top 10 best seller list! Pig Bride and Time and Again are two manhwa you must not miss! So what do we recommend? Scroll do..." "Tokyopop makes a showing of their titles just as they start their "America's Greatest Otaku" tour at Anime Expo this week. Del Rey releases some more titles, including the second volume of Moyasimon, and the final omnibus edition of Samurai Deeper Kyo, a title that was originally published by Tokypop, before Kodansha took away their licenses. "Wow, they're right when they say selection has dropped, but that doesn't mean the quality has! Bandai and Seven Seas has some novels out, and Yen Press has the next volume of Hero Tales, but the Big Dog this week is Viz with some great Sig titles, as well as the final Fushigi Yugi VIZBIG edition. "The new releases list is getting smaller and smaller as more companies go under, or worse, have the carpet pulled from under them. That is what's happened to CMX, the manga imprint from DC. On Tuesday, DC announced the imprint would stop printing as of July 1, 2010. This was obviously a surprise to even the CMX crew, as the CMX website had just been updated with new titles on Monday. But even that is gone now, and we all mourn. In hap..." [Read More]

Viz brings out some of it's Signature and Shonen Sunday titles, with Biomega being the most outrageous. Gotta love a talking bear with a hook-hand, and a machine gun.
