Movable Manga Feast: Mushishi at Manga Village
The manga series
Mushishi has been reviewed by several of our reviewers. Since this week is the
Movable
Manga Feast for this series, here's a quick overview of what our reviews
have said about the series.

Justin Colussy-Estes
reviewed Volume 3, and really enjoyed both the
story and art work:
"I love Yuki Urushibara. Her manga seems to
me completely unlike so much that's out there, both from an art
standpoint--her pages are filled with delicate linework that teases out
the nuances of character and setting-- and from a story standpoint."

Dan
Polley
reviewed Volume 4. While still enjoying
the series, he wasn't so enthusiastic for the future:
"Although
the series as a whole has been excellent so far, it’s hard to stay
interested if every volume is simply going to be a collection of a
handful of short stories... The individual stories continue to be good,
but the lack of a connectedness is starting to hurt the series."

John
Thomas
reviewed Volume 6 and still found it a
satisfying read despite some problems:
"Ginko himself is a bit
bland as a lead character after we get the gist of the stories...
Mushishi
continues to satisfy in its subtleties. The horror of
Mushishi
is much more on the vein of "Rosemary's Baby" than a "Hostel" title
like
Hell Girl."
Scores for the series remained consistent
between all our reviewers, averaging an 8.5 out of 10. So, even though
the series has it's problems, the lead and episodic nature of the
series being the foremost of them, it's pretty much agreed to still be
an enjoyable series and worth your time to pick up.

Farewell CMX, We Hardly Knew You

"
On Tuesday, May 18, DC Comics announced that CMX would cease
publishing on July 1, 2010. CMX had a turbulent start, with the
controversy of editing/censoring of Tenjho Tenge, but with the right
staff behind it, it became a company that licensed and released solid
titles that appealed to everyone. But DC has pulled the plug, citing the
"challenges" in the marketplace right now. So now we must say good-bye,
just as CMX was finding its legs and bringing..."
