My Dearest Devil Princess 2 (Makoto Matsumoto and Maika Netsu)

Brocolli Books

My Dearest Devil Princess

Rating: 16+

Price: 9.99 USD

Poor Keita. He opened up an old box given to him by a friend only to find an sexy angel named Maki inside who arrived bearing wishes. Doesn't sound so bad does it? Well Volume 1 ends as we discover that Maki is no angel. She is a cute and naive demon on a mission to collect human souls, and since Keita's single father invited the little sexpot to live with them (using typical manga logic) she is going to start with Keita.

Volume 2 of My Dearest Devil Princess brings some attention to Maki's rivals from the demon world. It seems whichever scantily-clad spirit-seeker can bag the most souls wins the crown as the next Queen of the Demons. With the underhanded demon Miki in the mix along with the self-righteous angel Sheeta's interruptions, Keita certainly has his hands full!

That's probably more summary than you need, as My Dearest Devil Princess isn't exactly the most plot-driven manga to cross the pond. Though it is worth metioning that the always capable translator, Satsuki Yamashita, does a great job of bringing the kawaii soft and sexy humor into English.

But your aren't reading My Dearest Devil Princess for the insight into angel and demon politics. This is a fan-service parade, and hardly three pages goes by without at least one teen demon cleavage shot, someone stepping out of the shower, or the a low angle of the tiniest skirts on a school uniform in a 16+ title. The episodes in My Little Princess are titillating and funny, not unsimilar to old episodes of "Three's Company", though the dorky Keita doesn't quite have the comedy skills of the late John Ritter.

My Dearest Devil Princess is silly and (almost) innocent fun. A great title to cleanse the soul after reading too much MPD-Psycho or Berserk.

7.5

Summing Up:

A demon pretending to be a devil lands on Earth...never mind that. My Dearest Devil Princess is fan-service heavy and funny, and there's nothing wrong with that.
