Starship Troopers 8 (Dethan/Green/Mauer)

Markosia

Starship Troopers

Having escaped from the strange aliens that held them captive, Vanauken and the remains of alpha team head back to the facility. They are being closely followed...

The concluding part of Dethan's brilliant Bad Blood storyline pits the humans against the bugs and the strange aliens in this explosive finale.

Dethan, as the writer, does a fine job on the plot, dialogue and scripting and nothing feels forced or unnatural. The strange aliens add an interesting new dimension to the story and I'd be interested to see the new territory they are able to cover as a result of the addition.

As I've remarked previously, Starship Troopers seems reinvigorated under Dethan's command and I see this as the best ST storyline to date.

In addition Green's excellent artwork is beautiful and clear, albeit somewhat cartooney. He appears to be able to use color well to convey mood, action and location, so it goes beyond the pallette for the planet they are on.

He also uses a lot of computer effects, but, crucially, doesn't overuse them. As a result, the end artwork is heightened and improved.

All in all, a good ending to the story. It wasn't quite the ending I was expecting, but it doesn't feel unbelievable and works well.

Summing Up:

A good conclusion to the best ST story arc so far.
