Pastel Volume 12 (Toshihiko Kobayahsi)

Del Rey Manga

Pastel Volume

Genres: Romance, Comedy
Rating: Older Teen
Price: $10.95

Mugi is still crazy about Yuu, yet he just cannot work up the courage to tell her how he feels. Instead, Mugi’s friends think up a plan to enter the two into a Best Couples contest.

His friends believe that if the two are voted as the best couple, Yuu will have to look at Mugi in a new light — one that paints him as a potential relationship partner.

At the contest, results are mixed. In the end, the announcer awards Mugi and Yuu a prize — a stay on a nearby deserted island. Unfortunately — or maybe fortunately — the weather turns poor quickly and the two must stay the night alone in a cave. With no one around and nothing to do, the time is opportune for Mugi to tell Yuu how he feels.

Then, after the two return home, they are out enjoying their lunch break. While Yuu goes in to a nearby shop to get some ice cream, Mugi spots something going on near him. When he looks to see what is going on, he finds that it’s Kiku Murakami, a girl who used to have a crush on him.

Yuu sees the two interacting and hides out. Mugi and Kiku wander around. Later, Yuu starts to display almost jealous tendencies toward Mugi. Mugi, though, takes her words and actions and doesn’t understand.

Eventually, the awkwardness seems to fade from among the three. Mugi and Yuu repair their relationship, much to the chagrin of others.

6.5

Summing Up:

The volume focuses heavily on Mugi and Yuu, but it feels as though nothing really happens.
