Puri Puri Volume 6 (Chiaki Taro)

DrMaster Publications Inc.

Puri Puri Volume

Genre Romance
Age Rating 15+
Price $9.95

One step closer to becoming a priest, Kamioda is asked to reside in a local church and help out the presiding priest, as a priest-in-training. But a sweet and devilish troublemaker named Emily awaits him, testing his determination with her ripe body. Ayano is concerned that Kamioda is being seduced by Emily and her big boobs, and tries her best to attract Kamioda by enlarging her chest size (with the help of Eri and Rumi). Can Kamioda handle the pressure and continue down the road to becoming a good priest?

The latest volume of Puri Puri continues the premise of a priest-in-training who is surrounded by lots and lots of girls. The manga opens with a relatively clean slate and is a good entry point for new readers. There's also a smaller cast here which makes it easier for new readers to keep track of everything that's going on.

There's nothing really remarkable about this volume other than it achieves what it aims to do. The comedy is your usual hijinx of the lone Japanese male getting into embarrassing situations with the opposite sex and I found nothing particularly new here. There's noticeably more fan service present here and if that's the particular aspect you enjoy about this manga, then this can't be beat. Lots of ample metaphors and exaggerations, from the nosebleeds to portraying our protagonist as a mouse (compared to the seducing nun-in training who is revealed to be a preying fox).

The art is pretty, featuring the usual expressive character expressions as well as full body shots. Taro is more or less consistent when it comes to this arena and the various characters can easily be identified.

For the most part, this volume is divided into two arcs and those who've been following the series this far will be interested in the second one as there's an important event that develops. Overall, not bad but this isn't really my cup of tea. Those looking for fan service and ridiculous but light-hearted comedy will do fine with this one.

Summing Up:

Fan service galore and continuing hijinx of a priest-in-training surrounded by the most bountiful of women.
