Alexander Hoffman

Alexander Hoffman is more often than not, studying for his latest exam. A student in Ohio Northern's six-year Pharmacy program, what time he has that isn't spent learning the ins-and-outs of the human body and the drugs we use on it, is spent on comics, Magic: the Gathering, and games of all types. Alex got his start in writing through short fiction and poetry contests, and began writing about games in the Spring of 2005 at  Magic Deck Vortex. He started his blog, Manga Widget, in the Fall of 2008 to talk about comics, and he's been writing almost full-time ever since.

Pretty Face Volume 1 (Written and Illustrated by Yasuhiro Kano)

Pretty Face Volume

Genre: Comedy

Age Rating: Older Teen (16+)

Price:  $7.99

Masashi Rando is a short karate master, which is no mean feat for a senior in high school. When everything seems to be going his way, he ends up in a firey bus crash that keeps him in a vegetative coma for a whole year. When he wakes up, his doctor has replaced his charred face with the face of his highschool crush Rina!

Things get even stranger for Rando as he runs into Rina, and gets mistaken for her older twin sister. So, as he moves in and takes the role of Rina's older twin, he must battle his male urges (he still has all his relevant man parts), and survive high school as a girl.

The physical humor is top notch, and the situations Rando gets into in this manga had me laughing out loud for the majority of the read. If this kind of humor keeps up, this is definitely going to be one of my favorite series.

Summing Up:

An over-the-top, hilarious shonen gender-bender love comedy. Anyone with a sense of humor should check out the first volume.
