Liquor, lust, and luscious men have their emotions shaken in this latest cocktail from Makoto Tateno's "How to Capture a Martini."  Taking place not during their youthful high school years it focuses instead on what happens when you run into a former lover and how quickly your resolve can be shaken. Naoyuki never got to have a clean break with his beloved sempai Shinobu; even four years of passage was not enough time for him to fully relinquish all feelings he once had for his high school sweetheart that turned stone cold.

The emotional pull of Naoyuki's heartstrings is what really draws the reader into this tale. Makoto Tateno painted a beatiful portrait of a man being tormented with his past feelings and sentiment as it blossoms once again in his present day life. As a reader I enjoyed the little twist this plot had compared to the majority of BL titles I have read dealing with high school relationships; whereas most of them dealt with the love affairs accuring while both parties involved were either student/student or student/teacher . "How to Capture a Martini" dives deeper into what happens to these relationships years after the fact when both may meet again by chance or by the hands of fate.

Two of my favorite things in life, yaoi and liquor, combine in this manga and I savored every drop of it. Though I might have drank it a little too fast when I first got my hands on it as my initial reading was in one sitting. This is the first title from the DokiDoki imprint that I've read from DMP and I can see now how it can be used as a gateway drug for bringing shojo addicts to the yaoi-side.
